archipelago which when viewed from a distance is called the cucumbers in
Javanese or means vaguely in Indonesian. Over time, the islands are familiarly
called the Karimunjawa Islands.

Sea lane
is the most common route used by tourists to visit the Karimunjawa Islands.
There are 3 choices of ships that can take you to this tourist destination,
namely the Kartini fast motorboat, the Marine Expres ship, and the Muria
passenger motor boat. When using a Kartini fast motor boat, you will travel
about 4 hours from the Port of Kartini. When using the Bahari Express ship, you
will travel about 2 hours from the Port of Kartini. By Kartini motor boat you
will reach the port of Karimunjawa in less than 6 hours. Keep in mind that
weather conditions and waves are very influential on the voyage, so that
voyages may be delayed or canceled if the weather is bad.
Besides using ships,
you can also use airplanes. The use of airplanes to Dewandaru Airport on
Kemujan Island, Karimunjawa may indeed be less well known because of the higher
price compared to using ships. You can use planes from Merpati Airlines, Sky
Aviation and Wings air from Ahmad Yani Airport, Semarang. The origin of the
name Dewandaru Airport is quite interesting, which is derived from the name of
a tree that only exists in the Karimunjawa Islands. According to local people,
if you take and bring back Dewandaru tree wood, the ship that you are riding
will sink.
